What is a Mortgage Coach?

A Mortgage Coach is an advisor. Unlike most of the mortgage industry that is an order taker or someone who just quotes a rate and moves on, a mortgage coach/advisor wants to make sure to integrate the interest rate and mortgage loan into your overall long and short term financial and investment goals and your payment, equity, and cash-flow objectives. We want to know what’s important about this home loan to you?

It’s also making sure you have a mortgage advisor that is there before, during, and after the transaction. If I earn the right to get help you finance your next home, I am setting you up with the biggest debt of your life. Unfortunately, that’s where most service ends with lenders. However, working with me as a certified mortgage advisor since I earned the right to get you into that debt it is my job to help you manage that debt…SUCCESSFULLY.

I want you to know, as a loan officer, I see my role as having four key jobs:

#1 It’s crucial that you choose a loan officer who can properly qualify you for a home loan, who thinks and behaves like an underwriter and knows the guidelines so we can do all the analyzing around your income, employment, or our business history, around the type of property you’re looking to buy, your credit. It’s important that a loan officer is good at that so you know that when you’re pre-approved or approved for a home, you’re actually going to qualify for that loan. That’s my first job, a really important thing a loan officer does for you.

#2 I want to provide you solid financial advice on how you can structure this major financial milestone, because there are so many different ways you could approach this. And I want to be that person who’s going to provide you those strategies.

#3 I’m your strategic partner in helping you win the deal. You could work with a loan officer anywhere in the nation. There are 150,000 of us; but I think the value for me is that I’m here locally. You need somebody who’s going to go to battle for you with the reputation, who’s going to call that other agent, going to advocate for you. That’s my job—helping you get offers accepted and to fight for you in the market.

#4 I manage the entire team to make sure your loan closes on time and closes smoothly. There are many different players who integrate into this process—the real estate agents, the title company, the escrow officer, the insurance agent, your employer, all my internal people, the underwriter, the funder. It’s my job as a captain of your wealth team to coordinate that team and make sure that we meet the deadlines to have a successful close.

And the other thing I want to say transparently is how I get paid. You don’t pay for me and my services. I get paid a commission from my company to successfully close your transaction.
